The towns of Telluride, Mountain Village, Ridgway, and others in San Miguel County have ongoing Zero Waste Initiatives including recycling programs, compost, as well as reuse campaigns. Here is a sample of the exciting things going on in the region.
Festival Zero Waste Goals -
Every summer the town of Telluride serves host to a myrad of differentfestivals, to which EcoAction Partners is contracted to help organize and ultimately reduce the waste streams from the festivals. In this role, EcoAction Partners is for hire for any festival looking to reduce waste and become more environmentally friendly by making sure the vendors are using compostable products where possible, and by educating the public to compost the correct materials. EcoAction Partners also works with festivals in order to discourage the use of single use products. Using these initiatives, EcoAction Partners was able to help one festival during the summer of 2011 reduce it’s waste stream by 80%.
