ENergy workforce development program

In 2023 and in partnership with the Telluride Foundation and San Miguel Power Association, EcoAction Partners launched the Energy Workforce Development Program which provides training opportunities to individuals seeking a career in the energy field.  The energy field includes renewable energy, beneficial electrification (heat pumps, electric vehicles, etc.), building science (BPI certification), RESNET HERS rater certification and more. The goal of this program is to add new skilled labor to the energy sector and may include reimbursement for the cost of technical certifications (including paying individuals a minimum wage for the time they invest in obtaining a certification) as well as possibly an hourly wage to apprentice with a professional in the energy field.

Let’s work together to develop our workforce for the future of our region!

Applicants must live in San Miguel County, Ouray County, the west end of Montrose County or Rico. The Energy Workforce Development Program has a set budget for each program participant. Upon acceptance into the program, please work with EWDP staff to determine how best to use this budget. It may be applied to compensation for time spent in training at a minimum wage rate, as a stipend, and/or to help cover the cost of fee-based trainings.
