UPCOMING EVENTS
Coffee & Climate Conversations: Intersectional Environmentalism
Join EcoAction Partners, Sheep Mountain Alliance and Wilkinson Public Library for our June Coffee & Climate Conversation on Intersectional Environmentalism in celebration of Pride and Immigrant Heritage month. Together, we’ll reflect on how our different identities shape the way we experience environmentalism, activism, climate impacts, and our connection to the natural world.
Through open discussion, we’ll explore the unique strengths and perspectives each of us brings to local climate solutions, while turning to nature for inspiration and examining what ecosystems can teach us. We’ll acknowledge who has historically been left out of these discussions and actions and how building a more inclusive climate movement can strengthen our entire community.
We hope you’ll leave with fresh perspectives on local resilience, deeper community connection, and new ways of imagining climate action in our region. As always, coffee, tea and pastries kindly provided.
Low Energy & Carbon Code Training
Join this free, full-day training with code experts that will teach you how to design and build to the Low Energy and Carbon Code (LECC) and regional amendments. Leave with an understanding of electric, EV and solar-ready requirements, how the LECC compares to previous energy codes, and the 3 compliance pathways.
Forever Wild Film
Telluride's Valley Floor was permanently protected in 2008 by a community-wide effort. If we were up against the same fight today, would we have the same results? Join EcoAction Partners, Sheep Mountain Alliance and Patagonia Telluride for a screening of Forever Wild and a community discussion to follow about the past, present, and future of environmentalism in Telluride.
Doors open at 5:30 with snacks and refreshments, film starts at 6 p.m. with discussion to follow.
Coffee & Climate Conversations: Through the Decades
For decades, environmental advocacy has shaped communities across San Miguel County. From our biggest wins, such as establishing the Valley Floor Conservation easement or creating a comprehensive Climate Action Plan, to ongoing conversations around land use, energy, waste and water issues in the face of our changing climate, our community continues to mobilize around the landscapes we call home. Join Sheep Mountain Alliance, EcoAction Partners, and local environmental advocates Joan May and Art Goodtimes for a discussion about environmentalism in our community over the decades: where have we been, and what will we do next? Whose voices should we center in these conversations, and how can we come together across different interest groups to envision a sustainable future? Join us for this exciting discussion about our region’s environmental legacy and future. As always, coffee, tea and pastries kindly provided. We hope to see you there!
