Fall Electronic Waste Event
The annual Fall Electronic Waste Event will take place in Telluride at the Carhenge parking lot both Friday, October 10th and Saturday, October 11th. From 10a.m. to 2p.m. each day, community members can bring their electronic waste which includes anything that plugs in or runs on batteries, as well as batteries themselves. This event is made possible through San Miguel County and 3RTS, in partnership with EcoAction Partners.
Waste drop off is free, with the exception of a $30 fee for each TV. Please no refrigerants.
Accepted Materials Details:

Ink cartridges
Cables
Plastic film (clean and dry)
Please no refrigerants

Common Ground Family Film Event
EcoAction Partners and San Miguel County invite you to a special screening of Common Ground on Thursday, October 23rd at the Livery in Norwood. Bring the whole family for a night that blends learning, connection, and local food!
The evening kicks off with kids’ crafts and a Fresh Foundation produce stand, followed by a hearty serving of complimentary Wild Gals soup and Blue Grouse bread. Then settle in for a 45-minute screening of Common Ground, an inspiring film about the power of healthy soil and resilient communities (sequel to Kiss the Ground).
After the film, stick around for a panel discussion with representatives from Shaven Conservation District, Montezuma Land Conservancy, County Commissioner, and local ranchers, where you’ll have the chance to ask questions and dig deeper into how these ideas take root right in our community.

Coffee & Climate Conversation
In a world facing growing environmental challenges, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed. Whether it’s grief for what’s been lost, anxiety about the future, or a deep sense of responsibility, these emotions are real, valid, and shared by many.
Join EcoAction Partners, Sheep Mountain Alliance, and the Wilkinson Public Library for a heartfelt and honest conversation about eco-grief, climate anxiety, and the emotional toll of living in the climate crisis. Together, we’ll hold space for these complex feelings, share personal insights, and explore ways to build emotional resilience and collective hope. This final Coffee and Climate Conversation before taking a break in November and December will be held at the Wilkinson Public Library Magazine Room on Thursday, October 30th from 8:30am.-9:30a.m. As always, coffee, tea and pastries are kindly provided!

Sneffels Regional Youth Climate Summit
Calling all High Schooler Students from across the Region! Join us for the Sneffels Regional Youth Climate Summit on Saturday, November 15th from 9a.m.-5p.m. at the Telluride Science and Innovation Center. The Sneffels Regional Youth Climate Summit is a youth-driven conference designed to bring together high school students from across Southwest Colorado with a focus on San Miguel, San Juan, Ouray, and Montrose Counties, for a day of learning, connection, and action. Co-led by local students and EcoAction Partners and sponsored by Lyra Colorado, the Telluride Institute, and the Telluride Science and Innovation Center, the summit fosters resilience in rural mountain communities through climate science education, youth-led presentations, nature connection, a green career expo, eco-art, and hands-on projects like real life policy advocacy, a regional youth zine, and school- or community-based climate project planning.

Building Energy Code 101
Did you know? New building energy codes are being considered by local governments across the region! Join EcoAction Partners for a presentation and Q&A to learn what energy codes are, who they affect, and how they shape healthier, more resilient communities. This event will be offered in person at the Wikinson Public Library as well as the Community Center in Ridgway. There will also be a zoom option (see link below).

Join EcoAction Partners, Sheep Mountain Alliance and the Wilkinson Public Library for September’s Coffee & Climate Conversation on “The Cost of Doing Nothing- The Impact of Inaction in Climate Change,” Thursday, September 25th from 8:30-9:30am at the Wilkinson Public Library. Our region is already feeling the impacts of climate change—unpredictable snow, intensifying wildfire seasons, and prolonged droughts. But what’s at stake if we don’t act? What opportunities do we lose, and what consequences do we face when we stay on the sidelines? Together, we’ll discuss how bold, proactive climate action can safeguard the outdoors culture, thriving community, and recreational economy we all value for generations to come. As always, coffee, tea and pastries are kindly provided!

Lunch & Learn: Know Before You Throw
Join EcoAction Partners and the Town of Mountain Village for a Lunch & Learn about all things waste—from composting to hard-to-recycle items—discover local solutions, ask your questions, and learn how you can reduce your impact while keeping valuable materials out of the landfill. Lunch provided!

After Snow: The Case for an Alpine Public
As winters shrink and ski resorts rely more on artificial snow, After Snow reimagines the alpine slope as public terrain for ecological repair rather than private extraction. Focusing on Telluride Ski Resort, the project explores design strategies that reclaim forest remnants, repurpose snowmaking systems, and redefine ski runs for a warming world. This thesis project is the recipient of the 2025 Master in Landscape Architecture Thesis Prize at Harvard GSD.
Join Cory Page (Harvard GSD’25, Telluride High School’14), Landscape Architect and Urban Planner, for a presentation on the future of skiing, followed by a panel discussion on “the cost of doing nothing.” The panel will feature local recreation stakeholders as well as EcoAction Partners on our current climate. This community event will take place at the Wilkinson Public Library on September 15th from 5:30-7pm- hope to see you there!

Community Resilience Hub Ribbon Cutting
Join the Town of Ridgway and San Miguel Power Association (SMPA) on Friday, September 5th at 5:30 PM for the ribbon cutting of Ridgway’s first Microgrid for Community Resilience. The new solar & battery system powers the Space to Create Decker Room, transforming it into a Resilience Hub where residents can gather during outages to stay warm, charge devices, and stay connected. This project was made possible through funding from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA), with SMPA securing up to $46,900 in funding on behalf of the town, and installed by Alternative Power Enterprise. This ribbon cutting celebrates an innovative step toward local energy resilience!
The event will have free food, drinks, kids activities and a screening of POW film Downstream- we hope you join us for this family fun event!

Energy 2.0 Exploring the Potential of Thermal Energy Networks
Calling all community members and anyone interested in innovative clean energy solutions! Join us on Wednesday, September 3rd at the Telluride Science and Innovation Center for a free community event exploring the potential of thermal energy networks. Doors open at 6:00 PM, with a panel discussion at 6:30 PM featuring experts from across the region. Learn how Thermal Energy Networks—district-scale geothermal systems—can efficiently heat and cool entire neighborhoods, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional building systems.
Speakers include Eric Bosworth (Thermal Energy Insights), Zeyneb Magavi (HEET), Chris Hansen (La Plata Electric Association), and Teal Stetson-Lee (Town of Rico). A Q&A session will follow the discussion.
This event is free and open to all—come discover how these innovative systems could shape our energy future.
